Writing stuff

So I've been writing again. I stopped for a couple of weeks while I had a little mini-crisis, but now I'm back on my writing bullshit. Only about 11.5K words into UncontrollableUrge, the sequel to Gut Feeling. It's not a whole lot, but it feels like a really solid 11.5K words.

Okay, update, since I wrote the first paragraph of Uncontrollable Urge yesterday, I've added about 7.5K to it, bringing it to a solid 19K. I feel pretty great about that. It's really going well, and I'm honestly pretty impressed with myself. I just love telling this story, and I love these characters.

Winnie is probably my best character writing that I've ever done. I'm so very proud of this work.

Another update. I've been writing this post on and off for a few days now, and I'm now 22.5k words into Uncontrollable Urge. It hit the 60-page mark today. For comparison, the first book, Gut Feeling, was 113 pages and 56k words. So if I use that book as a yardstick, the first draft of Uncontrollable Urge is almost halfway done. It's coming along really well. I'm very happy with what I've got so far. It's weird, just having this story pour out of me.

I'm going to California in a week to visit my family, so I'll have a week or so in the mountains to write. I'm really looking forward to that. We're going to see a touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar in Sacramento. Also looking forward to that. Going with my sister to see Maggie Gyllenhaal's Bride of Frankenstein movie. Very much looking forward to that, too.

I drew this picture of Nicole Kidman, based on a paparazzi photo of her after filing for divorce from Tom Cruise. I've always thought it was an incredibly inspiring photo, so I was glad to draw it.

Anyway, that's about all I've got now, but I wanted to post something to let you know I'm still here. Sick sittin' around here tryin' to write this book. I need a love reaction. Come on, gimme just one look.
