Gut Feeling sample
A look at how a person with Winnie's particular set of quirks can prioritize her safety in her environment by analyzing everything around her (the sounds of people eating, the music playing, the smells of the restaurant), constantly on edge, waiting for something to pounce.
I wanted to share a sample from Gut Feeling to show what kind of story we're working with. It's two chapters and covers Winnie and Deborah's first post-sex lunch date, and them establishing the parameters of their developing relationship.
It's an intense but also kind of sweet set of scenes between the two of them, and it highlights how Winnie's neurodivergence functions in this kind of scenario. It's a look at how a person with Winnie's particular set of quirks can prioritize her safety in her environment by analyzing everything around her (the sounds of people eating, the music playing, the smells of the restaurant), constantly on edge, waiting for something to pounce.
