Gut Feeling Audiobook
Hello, it's me, Joe.
We're pretty far along on the audiobook for Gut Feeling, and from what I've heard of it, I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm very excited for the world to hear this book and incredible job Lessa and the people at Aurora Sound are doing. I've heard bits and it's fantastic.
I'm hoping for the beginning of September, assuming everything is on track for the book to be finished being produced by the end of August.
I've got the second and third books pretty well done. I need to do a couple of editing passes on them, but basically, once this book is established, I plan on working on getting the next two done and out.
To say this has been a labor of love for me wouldn't exactly be right. It's more a labor of highly critical self analysis and exploration of some of the more difficult aspects of being me. While in the context of a story about a woman's sexual awakening.
Does it have "spice?"
Yah, buddy, it's got spice. The spice must flow, my friend.
I hate the word "spice" to describe sexually explicit content. It's not a recipe, it's a human experience. But whatever, sure, yes, it's loaded with spice.
But I digress.
This book is a departure for me, I know, but I'm very proud of it and I think it could be a good direction for me to head into, while also keeping one foot firmly in the world of horror and vampires.
I don't know that I have a lot of real literary fiction in me, whatever that is, and I don't know if it's accurate to describe this as that, but I do think it's something other that just erotica. I need to figure out how to telegraph that distinction to my readers. That this is not a regular erotica book. It's a different kind of thing.
My vampire books are have the same problem. What I write is very much character exploration first and foremost, more than plot or drama or prose, for me, it's all about finding who that character is and then getting them to do stuff. That's how I write, it's how I discover the story. I don't outline or use any kind of predetermined structure. I just start writing with the intention of finding and getting to know my characters, and hopefully a story happens to show up along the way.
So that's my next goal: To figure out how to describe what I'm selling. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm certainly open to hearing them. I'm genuinely at a loss.
Also, I'm still open to doing those $75 portrait commissions, including a print. Lemme know if you're interested!

OH, and I'm currently rewriting Charlie, my first novel, for a "special edition" that will replace the original as the official canon. It's maybe a little unconventional, but whatever, I'm a grown up and I do what I want! If Stephen King can add to, rewrite, and update The Stand, then I can do it with Charlie! Me and Steve, just rewriting our own shit. Like bosses.
